Camping Check List

Campground

Camping at R&A? Iconic move.

But let’s be real a lot of you have never camped before. Don’t stress, we’ve got you. Here’s your no-BS guide to what you actually need to survive three days in the valley.

🛌 Sleeping Setup

  • Tent - make sure it’s waterproof (and actually has pegs).
  • Sleeping bag - nights in Cardrona = chilly.
  • Mattress or roll mat - grass is not as comfy as it looks.
  • Pillow - yes, you’ll regret it if you don’t bring one.
  • Warm layers - hoodies, trackies, socks. You’ll thank us at 3am.

👕 Clothes & Festival Fits

  • Day fits - shorts, tees, dresses, whatever your vibe.
  • Warm gear - puffer jacket, hoodie, beanie. The Alps don’t mess around.
  • Shoes - one for dancing (sneakers), one for camping (jandals/boots).
  • Sunnies + hat - for that morning-after stumble to the food stalls.
  • Rain jacket - because NZ weather.

🧴 Essentials

  • Reusable water bottle - free refill stations everywhere.
  • Sunscreen - don’t fry yourself.
  • Toiletries - toothbrush, deodorant, soap, tampons, etc.
  • Towel - quick-dry = hero move.
  • Med kit basics - plasters, painkillers, electrolytes.

🔌 Handy Extras

  • Torch or headlamp - tents don’t come with lights.
  • Phone charger / power bank - you'll want to stay connected.
  • Camp chairs - nothing better than a sit-down session with mates.
  • Snacks - food’s on site, but midnight munchies are elite.
👉 Pro tip: Pack like you’re going on a summer hike that turns into a winter sleepover.
