general admission questions

WHAT DOES TIER 1, TIER 2 ETC, MEAN?
Rhythm & Alps employs a tiered ticketing system that rewards those who buy their tickets early with discounts. Each tier has a set allocation of tickets, and once that allocation is exhausted, it moves to the next tier. The earlier you buy your ticket, the more you save.
CAN I BUY SINGLE DAY PASSES?
Yes! Single day passes are available for purchase.

WHEN WILL MY TICKET BE SENT OUT?
All pdf tickets will be released October 25TH 2019 via email. Don't worry that you haven't got your PDF attached to your confirmation email, everyone with a valid order will get their ticket issued before the festival starts.  We are withholding PDF tickets from release, as an anti-scalping prevention measure.
​IS THERE A LIMIT TO HOW MANY TICKETS I CAN PURCHASE?
Yes, you can purchase up to 10 tickets per account.
CAN I BUY TICKETS AT THE FESTIVAL?
Yes, you will be able to purchase tickets at the box office onsite, provided the event is not sold out.

If you've already bought tickets to #RA19 it is essential that YOUR name is on your ticket. At the event, security will check to ensure your name on your ID matches the name on your ticket. WHAT IS ONSITE CAMPING?
Our beautiful onsite campsite is an experience like no other, and is conveniently located right on the doorstep of the festival itself in the heart of the Cardrona Valley, Wanaka, NZ

WHAT DOES MY CAMPING TICKET GET ME?
In addition to being able to pitch your tent and stay onsite, you will have access to the camp bar, onsite toilets and shower blocks and full use of facilities located across the site including; an awesome range food vendors, the swimming hole, shaded seating/ chillax areas, camp store. You'll also be only a short walk from all the stages.

HOW FAR IS IT FROM THE CARPARK TO THE CAMPSITE?
It is a short 2-3 minute walk from the car park to the beginning of the campsite.

CAN I RETURN TO MY CAMPSITE DURING FESTIVAL HOURS?
You sure can. This is part of the attraction of the onsite camping experience. If you need a break or a quick lie down because you have been raving too hard- you’re only minutes away from your tent.

CAN I VISIT MY FRIENDS AT THE CAMPSITE?
Your camping ticket gives you access to the entire campsite for the duration of the festival (29th December - 1st January, so you'll be able to visit any mates who are also camping.

CAN I BRING FRIENDS BACK TO MY CAMPSITE?
Access to the campgrounds will be restricted to campers only. You must have an R&A Onsite Camping Wristband on to gain access to this area.

DO YOU ALLOW CAMPERVANS AT THE CAMPGROUND?
Yes! Simply purchase your Campervan upgrade (1 per Campervan). All guests must have a GA festival ticket + a camping ticket in order to use this upgrade.

IS THERE A RESTRICTION ON TENT SIZES?
We allow 10 meters square (10m2) per tent. Campsite is on a 'first-in-first-serve' basis, so if you arrive early enough we should be able to accommodate your needs.

CAN I BRING FOOD INTO THE CAMPSITE?
You can bring a reasonable quantity of snacks / food that doesn’t require cooking and unopened non-alcoholic drinking containers (limited to six per person).

WILL THERE BE SECURITY IN THE CAMPSITE?
Yes. Security will be present at all times within the campground & will be checking wristbands, performing bag searches and roaming the campgrounds (to keep you safe).

what to bring

  • MUST bring valid Photo ID - By law the only forms of ID that we can and will accept are valid & current, NZ Photo Drivers Licenses, HANZ 18+ Cards and overseas and NZ passports.
  • Have your ticket on you, either a printed copy or on your phone.
  • Cash or Eftpos to top up your RFID wristband
  • An empty plastic water bottle to reuse and top up at our free water refill stations
  • Warm clothes for when the sun goes down
  • If you’re a camper, be sure to bring all your necessary camping supplies, tent, sleeping bags, the works.

WHEN DOES THE CAMPSITE OPEN?
The campsite opens at 1pm on 29th December.

WHEN WILL THE LINEUP BE ANNOUNCED?
It'll be released around August.

CAN I BRING ALCOHOL AND FOOD INTO THE FESTIVAL?
Rhythm & Alps is a fully licensed event. Therefore, no alcohol is allowed to be brought onto site or into the campground. There will be fully serviced bars located around the campsite and festival site. Any alcohol that is found during the search of your vehicle or bags on entry will be confiscated.

It is a condition of your entry to R & A that all attendees must consent to  authorized staff to search their; clothes, bags, containers or other possessions for items in violation of our conditions of entry. No gross intoxication will be tolerated- so don't go too hard on the drinks before you arrive. You can bring a reasonable quantity of snacks / food that doesn’t require cooking and unopened non-alcoholic drinking containers limited to six per person.

DO YOU ACCEPT CASH, EFTPOS OR CREDIT CARD AT YOUR STORES IN THE FESTIVAL?
No. Everything is paid for via an electronic RFID chip (Glownet) which is located on your wristband, which you will be given at check in to the festival. Stations will be located all over the festival for you to top up your wristband, as well as refund any money remaining at the end of the festival.

age and ID

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO ATTEND R&A?
R&A is strictly R18. Anyone under this age will be denied entry.

​WHAT FORMS OF ID DO YOU ACCEPT?
By LAW, the ONLY forms of ID we CAN/WILL be accepting at R&A are:
  • A valid and current NZ Photo Drivers’ License
  • A valid and current HANZ 18+ Card
  • A valid and current NZ or Overseas Passport.
Expired IDs and ID such as student ID's, credit cards, birth certificates, library cards, gun licenses will NOT be accepted. If you do not have one of the accepted forms of ID you will be refused entry. Please note: The liquor license holder reserves the right to deny entry to any person who they suspect does not have a valid/legal form of ID or who they suspect are not of the age of 18+.

when will I receive my PDF ticket

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY PDF TICKET
This year we're doing things a little differently as we are withholding PDF tickets from release, as an anti-scalping prevention measure. We'll keep you informed with updates via email throughout the year and all tickets will be released October 25TH 2019 via email. Don't worry that you haven't got your PDF attached to your confirmation email, everyone with a valid order will get their ticket issued before the festival starts.

VIP upgrades

WHAT DOES A VIP UPGRADE GET ME?
​Festival fans who have a thirst for something more, something premium, can expect just that with a VIP pass. Enjoy two full days at the festival in luxury style.

want a different ticket type

WANTING TO EXTENDING YOUR TIME WITH US? GO FROM A SINGLE DAY TICKET TO MULTIPLE DAYS AND/OR ADD CAMPING!?
Look no further, the process for this is easy as pie and outlined below.

Simply login to your Eventbrite account, with the email address and password you created when purchasing your tickets. Click on your Account menu and then select ‘Tickets’. Please note, if you are not the original purchaser of the ticket and the ticket is not in your Eventbrite account, you will need to change your ticket via the person who purchased your ticket.

Once on the Tickets tab, select your order you wish to change. Once within this order, you will see a ’Transfer’ button on the top right corner, simply click on that and then click ‘Change Ticket’. You will then be directed to a new screen which shows the different ticket types available to you; select the new ticket type you would like. Eventbrite will then ask you to pay the difference between your old ticket type and the new one, go through the payment process as normal.

Once completed, you will be emailed your new ticket confirmation email. If you check back in your Eventbrite account, you will notice your ticket has been transferred over to your new ticket type and you’re all set to go!

*Please note, this option is only applicable for changing GA tickets into tickets that enable you to have a longer stay with us. i.e changing a 30th GA ticket into a 2 day GA ticket. It is not applicable for Glamping packages, if you wish to change a GA ticket, to a Glamping package, please contact us on info@rhythmandalps.co.nz

WANTING TO UPGRADE YOUR TICKET TO VIP OR ADD ON A CAMPERVAN PASS?
Whether you already have an existing ticket type or are starting your order from scratch, the process for obtaining VIP and/or Campervan passes is stress free. Treat these two ticket options as add-ons, they are not included in any GA ticket, you always need to purchase them in addition to your GA ticket. If you’re making a new order, simply select the GA ticket you would like AND the upgrade you’re after. This will mean at the festival check-in, you are to supply us with x2 tickets, one for your GA and one for your upgrade.

If you’ve already purchased your GA ticket, don’t worry the process is just as simple. Just head back to our ticketing page here and complete a new order for your upgrade. Please remember to use the same email address and details as you did to purchase your GA ticket. When at the festival, please bring BOTH your GA ticket and your upgrade ticket to check-in.

buses & carparking

IS THERE CAR PARKING AVAILABLE AT THE FESTIVAL?
Yes, there is free car parking available at the festival.

ARE THERE FESTIVAL BUSES?
Yes, local company YELLO! are offering a bus service to and from the festival from both Queenstown and Wanaka. Booking information will be released later in the year.

can I vape at R&A?

Yes you can! Our sponsor Vype will be turning up with their vaping devices, the ePod and the ePen 3. You'll be able to try out the vape pens and their range of eLiquid flavours in a variety of different strengths.
