RESOURCES
Helping you have the best (and safest) time this New Years
Our number one priority is keeping you safe at R&A! From the moment you leave your door, to the mosh and back, we provide a range of awesome resources to help you out. Check out our partners below as well as what to do If you're not having a good time, find yourself in an unsafe situation or there's an emergency. We're here to help!
ALCOHOL & DRUG SAFETY
DRUG CHECKING
Although illicit substances are prohibited at R&A, our number one priority remains harm reduction.
KnowYourStuffNZ will be checking people’s substances for harmful adulterants and offering harm reduction advice the weekend before R&A. While we don't condone ANY drug use at our festivals, if you are planning on it, it is imperative that you get any substances checked. All testing is free and anonymous.

KNOWYOURSTUFFNZ
KnowYourStuffNZ is an organisation that provides a range of drug harm reduction resources including checking, education and alerts. While Rhythm and Alps does not condone the use of ANY illicit substances at the festival, it is vital that if you intend on doing so, your drugs are tested and you are informed of the risks. See their website for more info!
AT THE FESTIVAL
R&A TEXT HELPLINE
This year we are offering a text helpline that will connect you directly with support staff. If you or someone you know need help during the festival you can text "ASSIST" and what's up to 260.
You'll be immediately connected to our on-site team.
RED LIGHT
Red Light are a sexual violence prevention charitable trust. Joining us on site this year, they provide a range of support and information to help you feel comfortable and safe at R&A.
If at any point you need help, you can use the code word “Red Light” when speaking to staff or volunteers, ‘order’ a “Red Light drink” at the bar, or, if you don’t feel comfortable asking for help verbally, you can save their logo to your phone and simply show it to any member of the R&A team. They’ll recognise it and know you’re asking for support.
TRAVELLING SAFELY
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA)
The roads around Wānaka this time of year are very busy and can be extremely dangerous. Travelling to and from a music festival introduces other potential risk factors such as alcohol, fatigue and distraction. Take breaks, drive well-rested and ALWAYS have a designated sober driver.
If you're attending locally, we also partner with Yello! to offer handy bus services.
Our mates at the NZTA have put together heaps of info to help you plan your journey; find out more below!
